Carnival Diverts Cruise Ships from Galveston After Hurricane Ike

Two of Carnival Cruise Lines' cruise ships, the Carnival Conquest and Carnival Ecstasy, have been diverted to New Orleans to disembark passengers due to damage done to Port of Galveston, TX by Hurricane Ike, The Times-Picayune reports. Passengers will have the option to disembark at New Orleans or wait aboard the ships until damage is assessed at Galveston.

Carnival remains uncertain about when the ships will dock at Galveston again, but a spokesman told the Associated Press  that the cruise line is trying to make arrangements dock at the Port of Houston.
