Orient-Express Enters Partnership To Develop Hotels in Americas

Orient-Express Hotels, which operates luxury hotels, restaurants, passenger trains and river cruises, has entered into a 50/50 strategic partnership with Miami-based The Related Group to develop hotels and residences initially in Miami's South Beach, Cartagena and Panama City. The mixed-use projects will include hotel, residential and commercial components.

Initial projects are planned to open within three years. They include a hotel with 28 luxury residences in the "SOFI" area of South Beach; an oceanfront hotel in Cartagena; and a hotel on Avenida Balboa in Panama City.

"Our development policy is clearly focused on high-end luxury properties which fit the Orient-Express customer profile and increasingly those customers are also interested in real estate opportunities," said Paul White, president and CEO of Orient-Express Hotels.

The Miami project will be the eighth Orient-Express property in the U.S. The company is also in the process of building a luxury property at West 53rd Street in New York City, next to its famous '21' Club restaurant. Orient-Express also currently has eight hotels in Peru, Brazil and Mexico.
